London based string quartet

Quartet Voluté combine the high calibre and brilliance of classical virtuosity with the diversity, fluidity and creativeness of improvising Jazz musicians. The quartet receive bookings for recitals, weddings, corporate functions and recording sessions, as well as providing a string section for artists, shows and tours.

The members of Quartet Voluté are all graduates from London’s Music Conservatoires; The Royal College of Music, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance and The Royal Academy of Music. Between them, they have performed in venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, The Royal Festival Hall and St Johns Smith Square.

Quartet Voluté’s members have recorded sessions for Universal Studio’s Germany, Sony Records, BBC radio 3 and gained airplay on BBC 6 music, BBC radio 2, Amazing Radio and BBC London. The members of the quartet also work regularly in improvisatory settings with Folk, Jazz and Pop Musicians.

Nadine Nagen (Violin)

Nadine Nagen is currently in demand as a high calibre and versatile Violinist on a variety of scenes in and out of London. Having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2010, she then went on to further her studies with a Masters at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where her achievements included winning the Barbirolli Prize for String Quartets and being a Semifinalist in the prestigious Soloists Competition.

Daniel Gea (Violin)

Daniel Gea studied for his Bachelor degree in violin in Spain with Olga Vilkomirskaya. As a string quartet player, he represented trinity Laban at the Britten Intercollege String Quartet Competition 2013 and got the John Thompson String Quartet Prize 2013. In 2013, he won the Vera Kantrovich Competition for Solo Strings and was finalist at the Vivian Joseph Classical concerto competition. He is currently studying for his MMus in violin at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with John Crawford on a TCM Scholarship.

Aled Jones (Viola)

Aled Jones is a versatile and engaging Viola player based in London. Originally from Staffordshire, he studied at the Royal Welsh College Of Music and Drama being awarded with a BMus in performance in 2008. Aled then went on to continue his studies at postgraduate level at the Royal College of Music, London under Jon Thorne (Badka Quartet).

Miriam Wakeling (Cello)

Miriam studied Cello at RWCMD with one of the U.K.’s foremost cellists, Richard May, where she gained a BMUS (Hons). She recently graduated with a Masters Degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London, thanks to the Ludwig Lebell Scholarship and Leverhulme Orchestral Mentorship Scholarship awarded to her. Miriam is currently studying cello with Richard Markson.
